MBB Falls At Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Central Michigan fell into an early deficit and never fully recovered on Saturday, falling to Western Michigan, 77-63, in a Mid-American Conference men's basketball game at the Broncos' University Arena.
The Chippewas 6-16, 5-6 MAC, entertain Eastern Michigan, 8-15, 3-9, in a MAC game on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at McGuirk Arena. It was the first conference win for the Broncos, who snapped a 17-game losing streak in improving to 5-20, 1-13.
The Broncos scored the game's first seven points and extended their lead to double digits, 29-17, with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half. Western led 47-24 at halftime and stretched its lead to a game-high 25, 62-37, midway through the second half.
The Chippewas cut their deficit to 12 points twice, the last at 69-57 with 3:16 remaining, but Western hit back-to-back 3-pointers to snuff out CMU's comeback hopes.
Kevin Miller scored 24 points, Brian Taylor had 12 and Ralph Bissainthe added 11 for CMU, which was playing its third game in five days for the second consecutive week. The Chippewas went 3-3 over that stretch to climb into contention for a MAC Tournament berth.
Taylor also had nine rebounds, one shy of his career high. It was Miller's second consecutive big performance after his career-high 25-point game against Ohio on Thursday.
The Chippewas made just 38.5 percent of their field goal attempts, their fifth worst shooting performance of the season. They hit 30.8 percent of their 3-point tries for their second worst 3-point performance of the year.
Lamar Norman Jr. made six of his 11 3-point attempts en route to 25 points for Western Michigan. The Broncos finished 13-of-27 from beyond the arc 3- for 48.1 percent. It marked the second best 3-point performance by a CMU opponent this season.
