Cross Country's Emily Paupore Honored as MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

The redshirt junior set a CMU Cross Country program record on Sept. 29 at Notre Dame
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Mid-American Conference has named Central Michigan Cross Country's Emily Paupore to the Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award.
Paupore, a redshirt junior from Negaunee, Mich., set a new women's 5k program record on Sept. 29 at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite. She crossed the finish line in 16:51.2, 18 seconds ahead of the previous 17:07.7 record.
She holds a 3.94 grade-point average and is working toward a degree in Elementary Education/Teaching for grades PK-6.
The performance earned her a 16th place finish among Power 5 competitors including Alabama, North Carolina State, Notre Dame and Florida State.
The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award is presented to a Mid-American Conference student-athlete with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives.
Paupore and the Chippewas are scheduled to run in the Bradley Classic on Oct. 13 and the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic on Oct. 20.
