MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan Athletics invites all alumni, friends, and family members this weekend to campus as Central Michigan University will host its 99th annual Homecoming Weekend.
The annual Homecoming Football game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 against Akron at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The contest is designated a "Gold Out" as fans are urged to wear gold clothing to the game. Tickets are still available for the game. For ticket information or to buy Homecoming game tickets, please call (989) 774-3045 or e-mail ticketcentral@cmich.edu. For those unable to attend Homecoming Weekend in Mount Pleasant, the football game will be televised on ESPN+.
Homecoming is a Central Michigan tradition that began on Nov. 22, 1924 when the Chippewas defeated Alma 13-0. Central Michigan holds a 59-34-1 all-time record in Homecoming games (note: CMU did not play Homecoming games during four years from 1943-45 due to World War II and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Next year's game marks the 100th anniversary of Homecoming at Central Michigan.
Two other CMU Athletics teams will be in action in Mount Pleasant this weekend. In addition to the football game, CMU field hockey will host Ohio on Friday at 2 p.m., while CMU Soccer will host Akron at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
"Homecoming weekend is a celebratory event for our great university and athletics program," Zyzelewski Director of Athletics Amy Folan said. "It's an excellent time for all of our students, student-athletes, alumni, family members, and fans to come out, show their Central Michigan support, and enjoy all of the planned events this weekend."
The theme of this year's Homecoming Weekend is Hollywood Red Carpet. In addition to the game, Central Michigan University has planned a variety of alumni and fan-friendly events.
