
CMU-Western Canned Food Drive Kicks Off on Wednesday

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. --Â Central Michigan Athletics' second annual Fire Up Canned Food Drive competition with Western Michigan, begins on Wednesday, Nov. 8 and concludes on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Students, faculty and community members may donate canned goods at various campus locations.

"We are excited to bring back our annual Fire Up Canned Food Drive in collaboration and competition with Western Michigan University," said Travis Downing, assistant athletic director of Student Athlete Leadership and Development. "This initiative is designed to drive students, staff, coaches, and all of campus to donate canned goods in order to make a positive impact on the campus and community as well as to drive competition with Western Michigan."

CMU has designated four drop locations around campus: the Indoor Athletic Complex (IAC), Rose Athletic Center, Student Activity Center (SAC), and te Bovee University Center – Volunteer Center.

Canned goods must be placed on pallets at the designated locations in order to be safely and sustainably store.
Â
Students can earn one hour of community service for every six cans donated. Students must sign the logs located at the drop locations to confirm volunteer hours.
