Mel Brodt 6k win earns Paupore second consecutive conference accolade
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Emily Paupore of Central Michigan Women's Cross Country has been named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week for the second consecutive time, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Paupore, a redshirt junior from Negaunee, Mich., won the women's 6k at Bowling Green's Mel Brodt Collegiate Invitational on Sept. 15 by 7.4 seconds. She fell just 1.1 seconds shy of her personal record. The Chippewa women placed fourth of ten teams with 94 points.
On Sept. 5, the league named her MAC Runner of the Week after her performance at the Chippewas' season-opening Jeff Drenth Memorial, where she won the women's 5k in a personal-record time of 17:08.
The Chippewas, who were recently ranked 12th in the Great Lakes Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, are scheduled to race at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 29.
