Cross Country's Natalie Newcombe wins MAC Runner of the Week

Newcombe ran third-fastest 6k in CMU WXC history in Kalamazoo Friday
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Natalie Newcombe of Central Michigan Women's Cross Country has been named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Newcombe, a senior from Mecosta, Mich., placed 2nd in the women's 6k at Western Michigan's George Dales Invite on Friday. She completed the race in 20:31.4, which shattered her previous personal record by a minute and 21 seconds.
Newcombe's time was good for third-best all-time in CMU women's cross country history, helping the Chippewa women to a 2nd of 5 team finish.
The senior earned MAC Runner of the Week honors on Sept. 3 after winning the Jeff Drenth Memorial women's 5k at the beginning of the season.
The Chippewas are scheduled to race at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4. in South Bend, Ind.
