Amy Folan's Maroon & Gold Memo: Headway, Homecoming and Hall of Fame
9/26/2024 9:00:00 AM | General, Our Stories
Another year is upon us and has started strong! We're building on last year's incredible momentum, as showcased in our recently released 2023-24 Annual Report. It highlights athletic and academic success, community partnerships and student-athlete engagement. We hope you'll take a look and celebrate all the amazing accomplishments.
Â
A highlight of our fall is CMU's 100th annual homecoming, scheduled the weekend of Oct. 10 through 13. Our Athletics family is especially fired up for our 1974 football team, which captured the Division II national championship, to serve as homecoming grand marshals. The team, celebrating its 50th anniversary of that title, was led by legendary coach Roy Kramer and his top assistant, Herb Deromedi.
Â
The CMU Chippewas will play their homecoming football game vs. the Ohio Bobcats Saturday afternoon. You also can catch soccer, field hockey and fall softball action throughout the weekend. Check out the full homecoming schedule on the Alumni Relations website.
Â
Welcoming new Hall of Famers
Five extraordinary athletes and one former coach were honored as our newest Marcy Weston Hall of Fame inductees at a ceremony in McGuirk Arena on Friday, Sept. 20.Â
Â
Congratulations to this year's inductees:

Celebrating history, preparing for the future
While we celebrate our history through our Hall of Fame and upcoming Homecoming festivities, we also continue to look to the future and cement our position as a leader in our conference and beyond through our Maroon & Gold Bold campaign. Together we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our student-athletes, enhancing the fan experience and elevating CMU to the best in the MAC.
Â
If you'd like to talk with us about joining these efforts, please reach out to Chris Walker, deputy director of athletics, or Kelly Berryhill, associate athletic director for development. They can be reached at 989-774-1931.
Â
Thank you to those of you who give of your time, talent and treasure to help our student-athletes be successful, on and off the court. I hope to see many of you at the 100th homecoming and many of our events this year.
