CMU to Celebrate 75th Anniversary of Finch Fieldhouse With Event on Saturday, March 22

Finch Fieldhouse was originally constructed as an intercollegiate athletic facility in 1950; The facility served as Central Michigan's indoor athletic facility from 1950 until the 1972-73 academic year when Rose Arena opened.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan University will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Finch Fieldhouse with a celebration event at the facility on Saturday, March 22 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. ET.
Admission is free and everyone is invited to the celebration. All current and former students, faculty, staff, and administrators, CMU alumni, former student-athletes, coaches, and administrators from CMU Athletics, ROTC alumni, and anyone with a connection to Finch is encouraged to join us! #FiredUpInFinch.
The event will feature a variety of special activities honoring Finch Fieldhouse's historic legacy including: heavy hors d'ouevres, giveaways to the first 200 people in attendance, Finch Fieldhouse apparel (must pre-purchase, a link will be added to the official online invitation once available), historical exhibits and interactive displays, souvenir program, and photo booth with CMU and RPL props.
Finch Fieldhouse was originally constructed as an intercollegiate athletic facility in 1950 for $1.52 million. The facility served as Central Michigan's indoor athletic facility from 1950 until the 1972-73 academic year when Rose Arena opened.
With a seating capacity of 4,000 including 700 permanent seats, Finch Fieldhouse was the home to basketball, volleyball, track and field, and wrestling events through the years. The last athletic events at Finch were held in 2010 when CMU's volleyball team hosted its home matches there while the Kulhavi Events Center and McGuirk Arena was under construction.
In addition, the facility also hosted a variety of events such Central Michigan's graduation, Homecoming, and various concerts featuring Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Bob Seger, The Beach Boys, and Aerosmith. It currently serves as home to the Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services and ROTC.
