Central Michigan Athletics Launches Licensed Beer Brand: “Central 1892” in Partnership with Midland Brewing Company

Central 1892 will be available at Kelly/Shorts Stadium concession stands beginning with this Saturday’s homecoming game against Akron.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan University Athletics, in collaboration with Van Wagner, is proud to announce an official partnership with Midland Brewing Company. The partnership allows for the introduction of an officially licensed beer brand, Central 1892 – an American traditional ale with a light malt backbone and balanced hop bitterness.
Central 1892 will be available at Kelly/Shorts Stadium concession stands beginning with this Saturday's homecoming game against Akron.
"This is an exciting moment for our department and university as months of collaboration have led to this first of its kind product launch for our fans," Zyzlewski Family Vice President and Director of Athletics Amy Folan said. "This partnership with Midland Brewing Company is truly special as we highlight Central Michigan's deep connections to the local community including the Great Lakes Bay region. We are grateful to the many campus and community partners that made this collaboration possible. Throughout the process, Central Michigan University Marketing and Communications was instrumental in the licensing review and label design creation. I can't wait to celebrate the launch of Central 1892 with our fans on Saturday!"
Midland Brewing Company, a Michigan craft brewery and restaurant, will serve as the exclusive brewing partner for Central 1892.
"We are beyond thrilled to partner with Central Michigan Athletics and the University on this initiative," Midland Brewing Company Owner Dave Kepler said. "Our brewery is proud to support Central Michigan Athletics as we have other local companies and causes. It brings us great joy to bring this concept to life for CMU Chippewa alumni and fans to enjoy."
Following its introduction at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday, October 3, Central 1892 will be available at Midland Brewing Company and other restaurants and retail locations throughout Mount Pleasant and Midland. Fabiano Brothers Distributing, another proud partner of CMU Athletics, will serve as the official distribution partner for this initiative.
The Chippewas host the Akron Zips on Saturday, October 3 at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+. To purchase tickets, click here.
