Men's Basketball Announces the Signing of Seven Players

Central Michigan, Andy Bronkema adds seven players to 2026-27 roster: Tyre Acuff, Travis Ambrose, Jayden Hackett, Conrad Luczynski, Brock Mendoza, Jayson Petty, and Jacob Wrencher.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Seven student-athletes—Tyre Acuff, Travis Ambrose, Jayden Hackett, Conrad Luczynski, Brock Mendoza, Jayson Petty, and Jacob Wrencher—have signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Central Michigan Men's Basketball program, Head Coach Andy Bronkema announced on Thursday afternoon.
All seven players are enrolled at Central Michigan. Bronkema and staff now have 15 players on their 2026-27 roster. The seven players join returnees Kareem Aburashed, Uchenna Amene, Phat Phat Brooks, Keenan Garner, Jalen Kampen, Nsikan Usen, and Jaxson Whitaker. Freshman Jake Bascom's signing was announced in November 2025.
"I'm very proud of the diligent work our staff did with this recruiting class," Bronkema said. "In an ever-changing landscape we were able to find great fits for our basketball needs but also for our university and community. We were first focused on retention and returning seven players and adding Chippewa football player Travis Ambrose was the first step. Then, filling in the puzzle with pieces that fit needs was next."
Six different states are represented, along with all three positions, including four guards, one forward, and two centers.
At 7-feet-2 inches tall, Luczynski, and 6-foot-11 Mendoza both bring size to the center position. Ambrose is a power forward who recently played on the Central Michigan football team, and guards Petty, Acuff, Wrencher, and Hackett all bring ball handling, scoring and shooting to the roster.

"Trye Acuff was a high school player that graded out better than portal players for us. He is a big strong combo guard and has a personality and competitive nature that will be fun to coach."
Travis Ambose
"Travis Ambrose is a player I recruited heavily while at Ferris State. He went to high school with Jaxson Whitaker and worked out with us in the summer last year. His desire to play basketball became evident over time and Coach Drinkall was very supportive of the switchover, encouraging Travis to follow his dreams. His skill and physicality combination are unique."
Jake Bascom
"Jake Bascom was the first piece, signing with us in November. He was the best player on the best team in the State of Michigan. He is known for his high motor and relentlessness."
Jayden Hackett
"Jayden Hackett was one of the top 3-point shooters in all of NJCAA and will be a floor spacer who can score the ball for us."
