Men's Basketball to Travel to Toronto for Five-Day, Three-Game Competition Trip

Chippewas will play three exhibition games against local university teams: at York University (Tuesday at 7 p.m.), at Toronto Metropolitan University (Wednesday at 7 p.m.), and at Ontario Tech (Friday at 2 p.m.).
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—The Central Michigan men's basketball team will travel to Toronto, Ontario, Canada for a five-day, three-game foreign competition trip. The team departs Monday afternoon for the six-hour drive.
The Chippewas will play three exhibition games against local universities on the tour: at York University on Tuesday at 7 p.m., at Toronto Metropolitan University on Wednesday at 7 p.m., then conclude the trip with a contest at Ontario Tech on Friday at 2 p.m. before returning to Mount Pleasant that evening. Admission is free for all games. Game locations and addresses are listed on the schedule below.
"This trip serves multiple purposes for our program and is a trip we will look to do each year," Central Michigan head coach Andy Bronkema sad. "We gain extra summer practice time, give our players a chance to show what they can do together on the floor and get time to bond together."
York University, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Ontario Tech all compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference which includes 20 member universities. The York Lions went 4-18 last year, Toronto Metro Bold won the OUA title last year after finishing 21-7 overall and 17-5 in the conference last year, while the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks finished 8-14 in 2025-26. Thursday is the scheduled off day in Toronto and Bronkema will give the team the opportunity to spend the full day exploring the city. The team is slated to have lunch and tour the CN Tower before breaking off and exploring the city individually.
Central Michigan announced its entire 32-game schedule last week. The Chippewas will play a 15-game home schedule, a 22-game conference schedule, and non-conference games at Arkansas, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh. CMU men's basketball season tickets go on sale on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
