Reighard and Morgan Named CMU Scholar Athletes

Central Michigan University has selected Kara Reighard (gymnastics) and Ty Morgan (wrestling) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Kara led the Chippewas to a second-place finish and their best score of the season at the Michigan Classic on Friday evening. Reighard took second in the all-around competition to 20th-ranked and 2000 Olympian Elise Ray of Michigan. Her score of 39.350 is her best mark of the season and ties for the fourth-best in the MAC this year. Kara took first place on the floor exercise with a near perfect 9.950. It was the second straight week that she scored a 9.950 and won the floor competition. She also took fourth on the beam with a 9.850 and ninth on the bars with a 9.800.

Morgan helped the Chippewa grapplers improve to 3-0 in the conference in a 32-6 defeat of Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo. Morgan returned from injury to pick up his first conference dual win, topping Brian Sebaaly, 8-3.
