Athletics Reaches Out To Community
Feb. 11, 2003
MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University athletics department took a moment last Friday, February 7, to give back to the community that is such an integral part of.
The athletics department lent a helping hand to two area families who lost all of their belongings after a fire destroyed their homes in January. Donations were collected from athletic department employees and their families to aid in the effort.
Nick Williams, assistant athletic director of marketing, student athletes, and members of the marketing staff, presented the families with numerous boxes of clothing, linens, toys for the children, and tickets for an upcoming CMU men's basketball game.
"Our hearts go out to these two families," said Williams. "We felt this was a great opportunity for all of us in athletics to help and give back to members of a community that has given us so much.
"I really have to commend all of the CMU Athletic staff on a job well done. Everyone really pitched in and gave what they could to help."
