Men's And Women's Track And Field Athletes Earn Academic Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Mid-American Conference has announced its track and field Academic All-MAC teams and seven members of Central Michigan University's men's and women's squad made the cut.
The men's team led the way with four honorees, Luke Humphrey (3.65 GPA), Ron Miller (3.90), Mike Sidlauskas (3.92) and Don Wilkins (3.25). The recently crowned MAC champion women's team had three receive honors: Katie Davis (3.89); Amanda Storck (3.29); and Rachel Tarvuud (3.67).
Davis is the only Chippewa to be named to the team twice, garnering the honor last season as well.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in a minimum of 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
