Baseball Player, Gymnast Turn In Standout Performances

Central Michigan University has selected Stephanie Langley (gymnastics) and Bryan Mitzel (baseball) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Bryan hit .600 in one game last weekend in going 3-for-5 from the plate against Utah. He hit one homerun, tallied three RBI and scored two runs in the effort. It was Bryan's second career homerun, the first on the season.

Langley helped the Chippewas clinch the MAC Championships' top seed with a win over Bowling Green by finishing in the top five in two events. She took third on the beam with a score of 9.825 and fifth on the vault with a 9.800 tally. Langley also finished sixth on the floor with a 9.875.
