Student-Athletes Earn Community Honor
April 5, 2001
MOUNT PLEASANT--Central Michigan University student-athletes were honored as Volunteers of the Week through the Community Volunteer Recognition Program.
Besides being full-time students and competing at the Division I level, the student-athletes find time to volunteer at various events.
CMU student-athletes have taken part in the following projects: local school Pen Pal and speaker programs, Have-a-Heart Program with the Commission on Aging, National Make A Difference Day and Jock Rock Fundraiser. The athletes also donate their time and items to the Women's Aid Service and the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen.
During the holidays they help with a Red Cross canned food drive, clothing for Christmas Outreach and the Adopt-a-Family project.
For their efforts, the student-athletes were recoginzed in the Morning Sun and on WCFX.
