Christensen, Wells Tabbed CMU's Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Central Michigan University has selected Shelley Christensen (track and field) and Kurtis Wells (baseball) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Shelley threw in two events at the Notre Dame Spring Invitational last weekend, launching the women's track and field out door season. The thrower from Plainfield, Ill., turned in a fifth-place finish in the discus with a 34.5m effort and seventh-place showing in the hammer throw. She turned in a 37.96m showing in the the hammer.

Kurtis' offensive output helped the Chippewas rack up four wins to only one loss last week. He tallied 10 hits and 10 RBI in 33 at bats. The first baseman also scored six runs in hitting a blistering .435.
