Jocks Get Ready To Rock
April 17, 2002
MOUNT PLEASANT--Plachta Auditorium will be rockin' on Sunday, April 21 when the Central Michigan University student-athletes try to outperform each other at the Eighth Annual Jock Rock.
The event is sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Board and is open to the public. Jock Rock begins at 7 p.m., in Warriner Hall on the Campus of CMU. Admission is $3 per person.
The money raised from the event will benefit the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD). The proceeds will be donated in the name of Kaelyn Carson, a former CMU women's track and field student-athlete who passed away last summer due to complications caused by anorexia.
Competing in Jock Rock are the CMU varstiy teams that put together a medley of songs and skits and are judged on creativity, lip sync, originality and time allotment. The performances bring back a faithful following who enjoy the comic renditions of music hits and many laughs.
Previously, the event raised money for the Michael Kirkpatrick Scholarship Fund and a local family who lost their home in a fire. Last year's proceeds went to the Isabella County Soup Kitchen.
