Smith and Marsh Earn CMU's Scholar-Athlete Honor

Central Michigan University has selected Aimee Smith (softball) and Mike Marsh (track and field) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Smith helped the Chippewas to a 5-0 week last week by hitting .385. She was 5-for-13 with three doubles and an RBI. She had a hit in three of CMU's five games, including a 3-for-3 performance in game one of the Chippewas' three-game set against Northern Illinois. For the season, Smith is hitting .301 with seven doubles, a triple and 13 RBI.

Men's track and field/thrower
Sophomore

Marsh turned in a second and third-place performance at the EMU Twilight meet last weekend. The thrower on the men's track and field team took second in the discus with a toss of 165-7 and took third in the hammer with a throw of 185-7. Marsh's effort in the hammer throw qualified him for the NCAA Regionals.
