Morris, Ernsberger Tabbed Final CMU Scholar-Athletes for 2003-04 Season

Central Michigan University has selected Erika Morris (softball) and Dave Ernsberger (track and field) as the final CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the 2003-04 season. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. In a pinch-hitting role, Erika Morris drove in a key go-ahead run in CMU's 3-2, 11-inning win over Ball State last Friday. It was her first RBI this season, sparked the Chippewas to a series sweep over the Cardinals and helped CMU clinch the Mid-American Conference West Division title.

Dave Ernsberger finished 12th in the 10,000m at the Cardinal Invitational in Stanford, Calif., last weekend. His time of 29:10.78 provisionally qualified Ernsberger for the NCAA National Championships in Austin, Texas, the second week of June. His time is among the top 20 in the nation and he is the fourth Chippewa to provisionally qualify for the 10,000m. However, he owns the top qualifying time on the team.
