Rasmussen and Ault Named Academic All-MAC
May 14, 2003
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University softball players Jenni Rasmussen (Saginaw/Swan Valley HS) and Ari Ault (Farmington Hills/Harrison) were named to the 17-player Mid-American Conference Academic All-MAC team on Wednesday.
Rasmussen carries a 3.81 grade point average with logistics management and marketing majors. The senior was 8-9 in the circle with a 1.85 ERA. She tossed four shutouts and struck out 62 batters in 102.0 innings. Rasmussen was also a Verizon second team academic all-district pick.
Ault sports a 3.90 grade point average with an accounting major. She completed her junior season in 2003 but she was a senior academically. The outfielder will not be with the team next season as she is pursuing career interests. Ault hit .131 this year while playing in 40 of CMU's 44 games. She had four doubles and three RBI.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. The 15-member team is voted on by faculty athletic representatives from all 13 MAC schools. There was a tie in this year's voting and the team was expanded to 17 members.
