June 11, 2003
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University women's track and field athlete Fallon Bailey has been tabbed the best all-around female athlete at CMU.
Bailey, who also earned strength and conditioning All-America honors, had the best all-around marks based on a battery of tests issued to each female athlete by the CMU strength and conditioning coaches.
The tests include a vertical jump, three-step vertical jump, 40-yard dash, pro agility test, the reaction agility test (RAT), bench press, squat, and clean. Three new tests were added this year. Those include the starting 20, the flying 20, and the 2-300 shuttle.
The RAT test is an agility test with the added component of reacting to visual stimuli while the starting 20 times the first 20 yards of the 40-yard dash and the flying 20 measures the second and final 20 yards.
Bailey, a sprinter and jumper on the women's track and field squad, turned in marks of 27-5 in the vertical jump, 31-5 in the three-step vertical, 4.98 in the 40-yard dash, 2.85 in the starting 20, 2.18 in the flying 20, 4.94 in pro agility, 8.16 in the RAT, 136 in the 2-300 shuttle, 165 pounds in the bench press, 325 pounds in the squat, and 165 pounds in the clean.
