Dame Named Academic All-American

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University senior all-arounder Sarah Dame (Maple City/Glen Lake) was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America At-Large second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Earlier this year, Dame was also named to the Verizon At-Large Academic All-District list for the second time in her career.
Dame was one of three CMU gymnasts to compete at the NCAA Championship this season. She finished fourth in the all-around at NCAA Regionals with a career-best 39.300 and took second in the all-around at the Mid-American Conference Championship. Her season-high scores were 9.775 on vault, 9.875 on bars, 9.900 on beam, and 9.925 on floor.
Her academic honors this season include being named the MAC "Scholar-Athlete of the Week" twice and earning Academic All-MAC honors while holding the highest GPA on the team, a 3.98. The senior was also named All-MAC second team.
