MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University athletics director Herb Deromedi announced the hiring of Kurt Wilson as director of radio and television.
A 1985 graduate of CMU, Wilson has handled play-by-play duties on the Chippewa men's basketball television broadcasts for the last three years.
In his new role, he will also coordinate the sales and production of the CMU Coaches Shows and the Chippewa basketball broadcasts on the CMU Public Broadcasting Network. In addition, Wilson will also be a producer with PBS.
"Being a CMU grad, it means a lot to me to be able to come back and join the Chippewa team," Wilson said. "I have the chance to do things I've wanted to do since I was a student, such as play-by-play, and I will work to enhance the Chippewa network."
Previously, Wilson was the program director/sports director/morning show host for Lite 96 FM/WATT-AM in Cadillac. The Hale native was the sports director at WWTV-Cadillac for three years and spent 11 years in Utah where he was the Director of Broadcast Services at Weber State University in Ogden. He was the voice of minor league baseball for the Salt Lake Trappers and the Ogden Raptors for 10 years. Wilson also hosted radio and sports shows on the Utah Jazz radio and television networks.
Wilson's efforts will be coordinated through Nick Williams, assistant athletics director for marketing.
