CMU Names Strength And Conditioning Coach

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University Athletics Director Herb Deromedi announced the hiring of Greg Halberg as the new strength and conditioning coach.
"Greg has an extensive background in strength, conditioning and movement," said Deromedi. "He will be a valuable asset to our athletics department and I look forward to having him on board."
Halberg spent the last two seasons as the graduate assistant for the Central Michigan men's and women's track programs and coached the jump, sprint and multi-event athletes. He also developed and maintained the speed and agility program for the football team.
Prior to his two years at CMU, Halberg worked at the International Performance Institute in Bradenton, Fla., where he developed and conducted speed, agility, strength and conditioning programs for professional and elite youth athletes. Halberg also ran strength and conditioning camps and clinics at Speed Quest in Harrisburg, Ore., was the defensive coordinator at Crescent High in Joyce, Wash., the assistant track coach at Woodburn High in Woodburn, Ore., and the assistant track and skiing coach at Eastern Oregon University.
Halberg received his master's of arts in exercise physiology from Central Michigan in May of 2001. He was graduated from Western Washington University in 1992 with a political science degree.
Halberg replaced Denny Starnes who served as the strength and conditioning coach for 16 years.
