Central Michigan University Athletics
Associate AD Heading To Louisville
Aug. 14, 2001
MOUNT PLEASANT-- Central Michigan University associate athletics director Gary Friedman has accepted a similar position at the University of Louisville.
Friedman was in charge of external operations for the Chippewas since February of 1996.
His new position at Louisville is associate athletics director for major gifts and special projects. Friedman will oversee the Louisville athletics department fund-raising efforts and the Cardinal Athletic Fund.
"Gary was a valuable resource for our athletics department," athletics director Herb Deromedi said. "As director, I was most appreciative of his efforts. This is another opportunity for him to move forward in his career. Louisville's gain is Central Michigan's loss."
Friedman is currently the president of the National Association of College Marketing Administrators (NACMA).
"It has been a wonderful five-plus years at CMU," Friedman said. "I'd like to thank Herb Deromedi for the opportunity he gave me. It was also great to work with the athletics department staff and the community."
Central Michigan University will explore various options as it looks to fill the position.
