Clean Out Your Closet, Get A Free T-shirt
Aug. 27, 2002
MOUNT PLEASANT-Get rid of your rival school apparel and beef up your CMU stock of t-shirts as a part of Rival Roundup and Chippewa Pride Day, sponsored by CMU Athletics and Student Life.
On Thursday, August 29, students, faculty, and staff can trade in hats, t-shirts, sweatpants and shirts, or shorts to receive a free CMU t-shirt. The Rival Roundup will take place in front of the Bovee University Center on campus from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and before the football game on "The Island" in lot 62.
"We're trying to reduce the amount of other university apparel and see more students wearing CMU items," said Director of Marketing/Assistant AD Nick Williams. "We see many students wearing clothing from schools like Michigan State, Western Michigan, Florida State, and North Carolina. We want students to show pride in Central."
The donated clothing will go to a charity in Michigan.
Cheerleaders and Chippettes will also be walking around campus on Thursday and giving away t-shirts to those spotted wearing maroon and gold.
Other offers on Chippewa Pride Day include temporary tatoos of the flying 'C' logo on "The Island" and a special ticket promotion. Buy one general admission ticket, valued at $15, and receive a second ticket for $1.
"We want the university and community to get excited about CMU and athletics," said Williams. "Anything we can do to foster that enthusiasm is beneficial to the university."
