Lovejoy and McLaughlin Named CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Central Michigan University has selected Emily Lovejoy (volleyball) and Derek McLaughlin (football) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Lovejoy led the Chippewas in kills (32) and points (37) last week while adding 22 digs. She had 13 kills and notched a season-high four block assists in CMU's win over Bowling Green on Saturday, 3-0. Versus Toledo on Sunday, Lovejoy had a match-high 19 kills and 17 digs. She averaged 4.00 kills and 2.75 digs for the week.

McLaughlin is a standout on the offensive line. Last week against UCF, McLaughlin helped block for 316 yards of total offense. CMU ranks third in the MAC in rushing offense with 183.2 yards per game and is also third in sacks allowed with just 12.
