Student-Athletes Speak to Students at the Saginaw Chippewa Academy

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University student-athletes went into the community today to stress the imporatance of academics to area youth.
Tamara Fant, Katie Kayga and Liz Passen from the CMU volleyball team and Joe Yager and Eric Neil from the CMU wrestling team spoke to first, second, third and fourth grade classrooms at the Saginaw Chippewa Academy on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation.
The student-athletes spoke to the elementary students about the importance of education, the benefits of being active in sports and making good decisions.
Visits to the Saginaw Chippewa Academy are part of a continuing partnership between CMU Athletics and the Anishnabe Athletics Youth Association (AAYA) of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. CMU Athletics is proud to support AAYA's efforts to promote academics and athletics to native youth.
