Central Michigan University has selected Scott Gibson (football) and Lindsay Mecoli (women's basketball) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Here are this week's honorees and their credentials:

Scott led all CMU receivers against Navy with two catches for 63 yards. He caught a 43-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for CMU's longest pass play for the game. Gibson also picked up a blokced punt and returned it for a score.

Mecoli scored a game-high 18 points in only 19 minutes of play to lead the Chippewas to a 111-36 win over Concordia in the season opener. The sophomore forward shot 7-for-9 from the floor (.778) and was 3-for-4 from behind the arc. She also tied for game-high honors with six rebounds.
