Nelson and Kuhl Named CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Central Michigan University has selected Kevin Nelson (men's basketball) and Erin Kuhl (women's basketball) as CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Candidates for CMU Scholar-Athletes of the Week must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are selected based on athletic performance the previous week. Nelson averaged a team-high 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds for CMU last week. The 6-3 shooting guard scored a team-high 17 points as CMU won at No. 23-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday, 69-68. Nelson poured in 12 points and grabbed a career-high five rebounds against Bradley earlier in the week. Nelson is CMU's leading scorer this season with 13.2 points per game and 16 three-pointers on the year.

Kuhl averaged 8.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game last week at a tournament hosted by Xavier. The point guard was CMU's leading rebounder on the week. She had 16 points, seven boards, and three steals in the consolation game victory over East Tennessee State.
