Deromedi Honored By GMAC Bowl
Dec. 18, 2003
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University athletics director Herb Deromedi received the Champions of Life Award today by the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
It has been given annually since 1999 to those who have achieved great success in their field through dedication and hard work. A representative from the Mid-American Conference, Conference USA and the Western Athletic Conference is honored each year.
"I was excited to receive this type of recognition," said Deromedi. "It's meaningful when you look at others who have received this award in the past."
Included in those who received the award in the past from the MAC was former Miami (O.) and Northern Illinois football coach Bill Mallory.
Deromedi had planned on being in Mobile but did not attend the presentation because he is in the process of finding a new head football coach after Mike DeBord resigned on Wednesday.
Miami is slated to face Louisville in the GMAC Bowl tonight.
