ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES
OVERVIEW
The Student-Athlete Services team is committed to supporting student-athletes throughout their academic journey by providing individualized guidance, academic resources, and skill development opportunities that promote success in the classroom and beyond. Dick Enberg Academic Center

ACADEMIC COORDINATORS
Academic Coordinators provide comprehensive support designed to help student-athletes achieve their academic and eligibility goals. Services include:
- Academic advising and course planning support
- Monitoring academic progress and performance
- Tracking NCAA and institutional eligibility requirements
- Regular communication with coaches, faculty, and campus partners
- Assistance navigating academic policies and procedures
- Coordination of travel notifications for instructors related to athletic competition
- Guidance on time management, organization, and academic success strategies
- Referrals to campus resources, including tutoring, mentoring, career services, financial aid, and academic support programs
- Support for prospective student-athletes and their families during recruiting visits
- Assistance with scholarship opportunities, academic recognition, and student development initiatives
- Ongoing academic check-ins and individualized support plans when needed

LEARNING SPECIALIST
The Learning Specialist works closely with student-athletes to identify academic needs and develop personalized strategies for success. Services include:
- Academic skill development and learning strategy instruction
- Individualized academic support plans
- Assessment of academic strengths and areas for growth
- Support for students with documented learning disabilities and accommodation needs
- Referrals to campus and community resources
- Time management, organization, and study skills coaching
- Coordination of tutoring and mentoring services
- Academic support for students experiencing academic challenges or transitioning to college
Hours
- Sunday: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Study Table requirements are assigned based on departmental policies, class standing, and academic performance. First-year student-athletes and others identified for additional support may be required to complete weekly study hours.
The program is designed to:
- Promote accountability and academic engagement
- Enhance time management and organizational skills
- Encourage utilization of academic support resources
- Ease the transition to the demands of collegiate academics
- Foster consistent study habits and academic success

TUTORING & MENTORING SERVICES
Student-Athlete Services offers a comprehensive tutoring and mentoring program at no cost to student-athletes.
Tutoring
Qualified undergraduate and graduate tutors provide academic assistance across a wide range of subject areas. Tutors receive specialized training to ensure they deliver effective academic support while maintaining an understanding of NCAA, institutional, and departmental guidelines.
Tutoring services may include:
- One-on-one tutoring sessions
- Small-group tutoring opportunities
- Course-specific academic support
- Study skill development
- Preparation for exams and major assignments
Mentoring sessions are designed to help student-athletes develop the skills needed to succeed academically and personally. Mentors assist students with:
- Weekly goal setting
- Time management and scheduling
- Organization and planning
- Accountability and follow-through
- Developing effective academic routines

ACADEMIC SUCCESS MEETINGS
Student-athletes who may benefit from additional support, or who are referred by coaches or academic staff, may participate in regular meetings with an Academic Coordinator and/or Learning Specialist.
Topics commonly addressed include:
- Current academic performance and course progress
- Upcoming assignments, exams, and deadlines
- Effective study strategies
- Time management and organizational skills
- Academic goal setting
- Transitioning to college and balancing academic and athletic responsibilities
- Connecting with campus resources and support services
