A southern California native and former multi-sport athlete, Jamil Thomas brings a multitude of experiences in basketball, football, athletic marketing, recruiting, operations, and player development to the Central Michigan men’s basketball team. Thomas competed in both basketball and football throughout high school, earning All-City and All-League honors in football. He garnered Defensive Lineman of the Year recognition in Los Angeles, while serving as a team captain in both sports.

Thomas continued his academic journey at Central Michigan University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice and a minor in sports management. As an undergraduate, he gained experience across CMU Athletics, working in marketing and fan engagement, while supporting championship programs and developing a broader understanding of collegiate athletics. His formal assignment began as a team manager in 2024, before he transitioned into a graduate assistant role with Head Coach Andy Bronkema's staff in 2025.

Thomas currently serves as a Graduate Assistant with the team as he pursues a master's degree in sports administration. His responsibilities include player development, recruiting and scouting support, video analysis, practice organization, game day operations, equipment management, and day-to-day program logistics. Thomas’ experience as a former multi-sport athlete and his experiences as manager and graduate assistant, give him a unique perspective on athlete development and the demands of collegiate basketball.
