Chicago area native Dorian Aluyi is in his first year as Assistant Director of Operations and Player Development at Central Michigan on Head Coach Andy Bronkema’s staff. Aluyi, who played for Bronkema at Ferris State, arrives at Central Michigan with a blend of high-level playing experience and mentorship under some of college basketball’s most respected coaches. He brings with him energy, credibility, and a winning mindset to the staff.
“Dorian was an all-time great player for me at Ferris State,” Bronkema said. “His love for the game is extremely high, and since graduation, he has developed his resume in an impressive way. His value to our staff as a former player in the system and a former professional player will resonate with all the players. I can remember conversations with him as a player discussing a future in coaching, and am glad we are back together.”
Aluyi most recently served as a graduate assistant with the University of Arkansas men's basketball program during the 2025–26 season under Hall of Fame coach John Calipari. He helped guide the Razorbacks to an SEC Championship and NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance and played a key role in the development of Associated Press First Team All-American, SEC Player of the Year, and First Team All-SEC guard Darius Acuff, while also contributing to All-SEC Freshman Team selection Meleek Thomas’s growth.
Prior to Arkansas, Aluyi spent the 2024–25 season as a graduate assistant on the Florida State men's basketball team under another Hall of Fame coach, Leonard Hamilton. In Tallahassee, he worked closely with All-ACC Second Team selection and NBA Draft pick Jamir Watkins, strengthening his reputation as a player development coach.
Aluyi began his coaching career with the Roosevelt University (Ill.) men's basketball program during the 2023–24 season, serving as a volunteer assistant under Dee Brown. He helped lead the program to a 25–4 record, conference championship, and the highest national ranking in school history (No. 11).
Before entering coaching, Aluyi was a standout player at Ferris State under Andy Bronkema where he earned two all-conference honors. As a senior, he averaged 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range, and finished his career as a 1,000-point scorer. He began his collegiate career at Minot State.
Following his college career, Aluyi played professionally in Spain during the 2022–23 season with ACB Sagrado Corazón (Liga EBA), where he averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game and earned Eurobasket Player of the Week honors.
A native of Frankfort, Illinois, Aluyi attended Lincoln-Way East High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Ferris State in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in philosophy.
