Associate Athletic Director of Equipment and Event Operations John Belco has worked in the Central Michigan athletics department since August 2014.

Belco manages all facets of apparel and equipment operations for CMU's athletics programs including budget, contracts, compliance and purchasing. He works directly with coaching staffs to ensure equipment and apparel plans are in place, safety requirements are met and MAC/NCAA rules are upheld. Belco also supervises the football equipment coordinator.

Belco also serves as CMU's sport administrator for the volleyball and wrestling programs. In 2023-24, he added event operations to his many duties.

Prior to joining the CMU athletic department, Belco was the managing partner for the Student Book Exchange for 12 years, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business.

From 1997 to 2002, Belco worked at the Central Michigan University Bookstore, first as the assistant manager - textbooks and then, for four-plus years, as the overall manager.

Belco holds a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Western Michigan University.

Originally from Portage, Mich., Belco lives in Mount Pleasant. He and his wife, Cathy, have two children, Kelsey and Erik, and two grandsons, Everett and Shiloh.
