Johnny Lovett, one of the most successful wrestlers in Central Michigan history, is in his first season as an assistant on Ben Bennett’s coach staff.
Lovett wrapped up an outstanding six-year career in 2024-25 with a 133-50 record, tying with fellow Chippewa assistant Matt Stencel for the second-most victories in program history.
Lovett, a Miami, Fla. native who wrestled at 149 and 157 pounds, was a five-time NCAA Championships qualifier and was frequently ranked nationally throughout his career. He placed in the top three at the Mid-American Conference championships five times; in 2023, he captured the title at 149 pounds.
