Kamal Hunte began his current duties as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services on January 23, 2023.
Hunte joined the CMU Athletics Department after serving the past two years at Western Illinois University as its Graduate Assistant for Academics and Student Development and Research Assistant for the Department of Kinesiology. He also worked as a mentor and first-year advising intern.
Prior to working at and attending Western Illinois, Hunte worked as a Sport Development Associate and Assistant to the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Sport and Community Development in Trinidad and Tobago.
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, he earned a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from Western Illinois University in May 2023. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Trinidad and Tobago in 2018. He graduated with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) in Sport Management and attained the highest cumulative grade point average (3.87) among all undergraduate degree programs in November 2018 at the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
Hunte competed in National Table Tennis for St. Vincent and the Grenadines , served as team captain for the high-performance table tennis team at the University of Trinidad and Tobago and was a recipient of the National Youth Awards' "Most Outstanding Youth in Sports in 2005" and the French and Sport Personality Awards. He also served as the Executive Student Guild President from 2016-18.
Hunte still competes as a national athlete for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
