Probst joined the Chippewas in 2023 from his previous post at NCAA II Lewis University (IL), where he spent the past 10 years leading the Flyers in the sprints and hurdles as an assistant coach. While at Lewis, he coached seven Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Athlete of the Year recipients, 37 first-team All-Americans, 63 GLVC Champions and 109 All-GLVC honorees. From 2008-11, he served Lewis’s staff as a graduate assistant. The Flyers won a combined 23 conference titles during his tenure at Lewis, and included a 4th place finish at 2016 NCAA indoor championships for the women’s program.
In 2021, he was awarded the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women’s Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.
Prior to his tenure at Lewis, Probst spent two years as an assistant track and field coach and strength and conditioning coach at NCAA III Rhodes College (TN). With Probst on staff, the Lynx won two Southern Atlantic Association (SAA) women’s track and field titles and a SAA men’s title in 2013. Probst saw a women’s 4x400 and 4x100 relay to a school-record breaking time, with the 4x400 relay becoming two-time NCAA qualifiers and 7th place All-Americans, a Rhodes first, in 2012.
Probst holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Lewis (2011) and a bachelor’s degree from Wisconsin in political science (2007).Â
A member of three Big Ten Triple Crown Championship teams between indoor and outdoor track and field, Probst primarily competed in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles and the indoor 400 and 600-meter dash.Â
