Tim Skipper reunited with Central Michigan head coach Jim McElwain when he joined the Chippewas’ staff prior to the 2020 season.
Skipper was elevated to the assistant head coach role in 2021 along with coaching the linebackers.
In his first season at CMU, Skipper led a linebacking unit that included standout Troy Brown, a First Team All-Mid-American Conference honoree.
Skipper served as the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach at UNLV in 2018-19. In 2015-17, he was McElwain's linebackers coach at Florida, and from 2012-14 was an assistant under McElwain at Colorado State.
Skipper was McElwain's assistant head coach for his final two years with the Rams.
Skipper began his coaching career in 2001 as the defensive coordinator/secondary coach at Western New Mexico. His resumé includes stints at Sacramento State and Fresno State. In 2014, he completed a Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship with the Miami Dolphins.
Skipper was a three-time All-Western Athletic Conference linebacker at two-year team captain at Fresno State from 1997-2000 and ranks second in program history with 418 career tackles.
He holds a bachelor's degree with a major in communications from Fresno State.
