A first-team All-America third baseman by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1983... also earned all-region and All-Mid-American Conference honors that year... at the completion of his career, Carey ranked second in CMU history with 77 career stolen bases... a member of two MAC championship teams (1980, 1981)... named team MVP in 1983... led the MAC in both doubles and stolen bases in 1983... his 39 stolen bases in 1983 ranked in the top 10 in MAC history... as a senior, batted .413 with 38 RBI and set CMU single season records for doubles (18) and stolen bases (39)... was one of two unanimous first-team All-MAC selections in 1983... batted .357 for his career with 152 hits, 33 doubles, nine home runs and 89 RBI... stole 77 career bases in 86 attempts... drafted in the eighth round (205th overall) of the 1983 MLB Draft by Kansas City... played three years in the minor leagues with the Royals and the Brewers organizations... a St. Joseph, Mich., native who prepped at St. Joseph High School.
