A pioneer in women's athletics at Central Michigan who spent 29 years in the physical education department ... second woman to be inducted into CMU Athletic Hall of Fame following Karen Karner Michalak in 1988 ... came to Central in 1941 as a PE instructor ... became director of the Women's Professional Program in 1958 ... she initiated sports competition for women in field hockey and basketball in 1945 ... by the 1960s, the program was expanded to a total of nine sports with teams competing against schools from throughout the state ... as field hockey coach from 1948-70, Jane's teams were 28-7-5 ... a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a master's degree from Columbia University ... retired from Central in 1970.
