Superb defensive back on Central's back-to-back Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship football teams in 1979-80 ... was drafted in the 11th round by the Cincinnati Bengals and played nine seasons in the National Football League ... made all-MAC in both 1979 and '80, and earned four letters as a Chippewa ... finished his college career with 304 tackles, 10 interceptions, 17 deflections and six fumble recoveries ... shared captain duties in '80 with Marty Smallbone ... also ran track for the Chippewas ... CMU was 38-5-2 in Robert's four years.
