Has been an integral part of Chippewa athletics across five decades ... inducted into first Mid-American Conference "Hall of Fame" this past spring for his efforts as an athlete, coach and athletic director ... earned three letters in basketball and two each in football and tennis in the mid-1940s ... product of Grant High ... was MVP of the 1948 basketball team that posted a 17-3 record ... followed CMU career with outstanding coaching stints at Grand Haven and Battle Creek Central ... his 1954 team won the state title at Battle Creek ... returned to Central in 1956 and served as basketball coach for 15 seasons ... was NAIA "Coach of the Year" in 1965-66 after leading CMU to a 23-6 record ... three of his teams reached the 20-win barrier ... was appointed athletic director in January of 1973 and served for 11 years.
