Baseball Series Continues

MOUNT PLEASANT--Central Michigan's baseball team enters its second week of the Maroon and White Fall Classic.

The Maroon swept a doubleheader from the White on Saturday, 8-2 and 12-6. Chad Pleiness (Scottville/Jr.) got the win in the first game and Ryan Krueger (Alpena/So.) won the second game.

The two teams split the doubleheader on Sunday. White won game one when Zach Cornwell (Farmington Hills/So.) hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to claim a 6-5 victory for White. The Maroon team won the second game, 8-6. Jason Helps' (Wyoming, Ontario/Sr.) two-run double in the fifth was the blow that lifted the Maroon past the White.

Maroon leads the Classic, 3-1. The tournament continues with single games Monday-Thursday at 3 p.m. The series closes on Oct. 7 with another twinbill at 1:30 p.m.
