Chippewas Beat Buffalo

MOUNT PLEASANT -
The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (13-4-1 overall, 8-2 Mid-American Conference) defeated Buffalo, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Chippewas jumped to a 1-0 lead with an early goal from Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/Fr.) at 19:41. The Chippewas extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Emilie VilleMonte (Farmington Hills/Fr.) at 53:39.
The Chippewa defense held the Bulls to just one shot on the afternoon. Goalie Elizabeth Quiney (Milford/So.) posted the complete-game shutout.
With the win, the Chippewas are alone in first place with an 8-2 (24 points) league record. Eastern Michigan is in second with a 7-1-2 (23 points) mark and Buffalo and Miami both have 7-3 (21 points) records.
The Chippewas host Eastern Michigan on Oct. 29 at 3 p.m., to close out the regular season.
