Chippewas Defeat Marshall

MOUNT PLEASANT -
The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (9-2-1 overall, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) defeated Marshall by a 2-1 count on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the Chippewas got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Darcey Rasch (Rochester Hills/Sr.) at 57:04. Marshall tied the game up at 1-1 with a score from Lindsey Jayjack at 65:15. Sophomore Anne Fedrigo (Livonia) scored the game winner for the Chippewas at the 79:09 mark.
Goalies Elizabeth Quiney (Milford/So.) and Aryn McCumber (Rochester Hills/Fr.) once again combined for the victory. Quiney played the first half and shutout the Thundering Herd while McCumber played the second half and made five saves and gave up one goal.
The Chippewas, winners of five straight games, travels to Northern Illinois on Oct. 8 and Western Michigan on Oct. 10.
