Chippewas Fall To Oakland

The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (2-1-1 overall) dropped a 4-2 decision to Oakland University (3-1 overall) on Sunday afternoon at Bennett Field.
The Chippewas got on the board first with a goal from Andrea Galindo (Livonia/So.) at the 7:36 mark. Senior Darcey Rasch (Rochester Hills) added an assist on the goal. CMU took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Golden Grizzlies came out in the second half and scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead. Kristen Luoma scored Oakland's first and third goals while Ashley McGhee had the second marker. Galindo scored for the Chippewas at 80:03 to make it 3-2 but the Golden Grizzlies added an insurance goal by Anita Rapp at 86:14 to secure the victory. Anne Fedrigo (Livonia/So.) and Caroline Valent (Midland/Jr.) had the assists on Galindo's second goal.
Chippewa goalie Beth Quiney (Milford/So.) made six saves and gave up four goals.
CMU hosts the Chippewa Fall Classic this upcoming Friday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 12.
