Chippewas Tie Spartans

EAST LANSING -
The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (1-0-1, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) battled to a 1-1 tie against Michigan State University (0-1-1) on Sunday in East Lansing.
Junior Kjersten Kuhlman (St. Louis, MO) gave CMU a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 62:20 mark. Michigan State fought back and tied the game at 78:28 when Jessica Moorman scored. In the overtime, Michigan State had the best scoring opportunity but Chippewa goalie Beth Quiney (Milford) denied the Spartans.
MSU outshot CMU 12-9 while Quiney made seven saves.
The Chippewas open the home season on Sept. 3 against Detroit at Bennett Field at 4 p.m.
