Chippewas Fall To Ball State

MUNCIE, IN - The Central Michigan University field hockey team (2-8 overall, 2-3 Mid-American Conference) fell to perennial MAC powerhouse Ball State University (10-3 overall, 5-0 Mid-American Conference) by a 6-1 count on Saturday afternoon.

CMU jumped to a 1-0 lead with a goal from Brianne Tallinger (Rochester, NY/Jr.) with 26:46 left. Ball State then scored two goals to take a 2-1 halftime lead. The Cardinals added four scores in the second half to secure the victory. Goalie Malia Swieconek (Annapolis, MD/So.) made 12 saves and gave up five goals while Janel Spero (Shoreham, NY/Fr.) played the last 11 minutes and made one save and gave up one goal.

CMU takes on Richmond on Oct. 10 in Muncie, Ind.
